Mathew Wilson también reventaba una de sus ruedas contra un trozo de hormigón por un error en las notas. Hasta ese momento Sordo perdía solo 7.7 segundos con respecto de Mikko Hirvonen por lo que mantenía la esperanza de poder lograr la victoria.
El tramo vigésimo podría marcar las diferencias y lo hizo, ya que Mikko le endosaba más de 10 segundos que dejaba casi sentenciada la carrera.
